Our bible study group brings together women of different backgrounds and ages as we journey through the Bible and its impact on our lives. Our group meets twice a month for approximately an hour and a half. We use a practical series of Bible discussion guides that fit into a concise 6-week format. The guides provide meaningful insights into scripture, prompting lively discussions as we share our faith experiences with each other. We enjoy expressing the richness of our Catholic Traditions as taught since our youth yet are open to looking at our lives today and how faith plays a vital role in different ways. We are eager to learn more about Jesus’ life through scripture and to discuss how we can model those principles in our own lives. If you are interested in participating in the next bible study, please call Marge Tiso (845) 688-5898. Thank you.

On the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, from 7-8 pm, a group of St Francis de Sales’ men gather at the Rectory to share their faith by exploring the Bible. Like most Catholics, we did not study the Bible growing up and find much to challenge and even surprise us. We like to range far from the familiar weekly Mass readings, into both the old and new testament, and even apocryphal books. One person volunteers to lead each gathering by suggesting readings, usually around a theme or story. Recent examples were God’s anger and the extent that we must lose our self to follow Jesus. Beyond reading and discussing specific texts, we might watch a video or introduce a book or article to supplement our discussions. Usually Fr Raphael is present and joins in to add his understandings and faith experience. We’ve developed a sense of fellowship from our frank discussions, shared stories of our faith journeys (and snacks!). A firm respect for privacy means members can share freely their doubts and understandings. If you’re curious to know more about the texts at the foundation of our faith, and to join in this fellowship, please come to the Rectory on a future Wednesday!
