The goal of our ministry is to encourage participation in the liturgy by using our God given voices to more deeply touch our hearts and of those around us and bring us to a fuller experience of the liturgy. Our parish strives to provide uplifting, scripturally sound hymns to reflect the tone of the Gospel.
The lyrics in the hymns we choose are meant to inspire us and the melodies bring us to a deeper place of hope, serenity, and peace as we relate them to the readings of the day’s Liturgy. Traditional hymns are frequently chosen, when appropriate to the readings being proclaimed, to invoke deep sentiments of the heart with the Eucharist as well as hymns to and about our Blessed mother.
Everyone, welcomed to our community of faith to worship with us, are invited to take part in this joyful experience as good stewards on our journey. “Open Our Eyes, Lord” (a popular hymn) is a good example of this hopeful opportunity to minister to each other. Our choir members are mostly interspersed within our congregation to spur us on in vocalizing our hymns.
“There is a longing in our hearts” - lyrics of one of our hymns - incapsulates for us the direction our parish’s music ministry wishes to develop, a sense of longing for Our God and also Our Community in coming together to share our faith with each other.
“Lord of All Hopefulness brings us to imagine the hope we have in bringing our dreams alive as we minister to each other and our community.
The joyfulness we experience in the music and lyrics are meant to stay with us until the following week when we once again meet at Mass.
